Our Story So Far
Our journey began in 2015 with a small group of people meeting in a home with a vision to build a church that would bring life to Balham and Beyond. That small group launched a Job Club and various compassion ministries as Balham Vineyard Church and we have grown to become the church that we are today.
We continue to be a community who carry that vision and are passionately pursuing God’s heart for our city through our ordinary everyday lives. In the summer of 2018 God lead us to create a new chapter at Balham Vineyard, to expand and extend God’s Kingdom in multiple locations and to partner with Him in restoring our city. We are now Vineyard 61 Church, a reflection of the heart and mind of God for a city in need of good news.
What Is A Multisite Church and Why Are We One?
A multisite church is one church that meets in multiple locations across a region or city. This is different
For us to be one church in two locations, with the same content, quality and feel, more of us will have the opportunity to lead, serve and become part of the family. We love that everyone has the chance to get involved, so we’re always including more people into our bands, tech, kids, coordinators, hospitality,
Whether this is your first time visiting or you’ve been part of our community for years, the invitation is to find which of our locations God is calling you to.
Read about the vision, values and practicalities of going multi-site.
Our name comes from Isaiah 61, a scripture that describes Jesus, his ministry on earth as well as what Jesus wants our ministry to look like today.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me;
He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
Our Vision & Values
We are a people who are together bringing life to our city and communities, that seeks to help people find and follow Jesus, be empowered by the Holy Spirit, connect and worship God together. We do this by being a compassionate church, as we live on a mission to serve our communities and to show and tell thousands about the love and power of God.
We are part of a growing movement of vineyard churches, built on God’s transforming word, who worship God with passion, intimacy and expectation. We are God’s children, empowered by his Spirit, extending his Kingdom together, everywhere in every way. We will serve people, especially the poor and vulnerable, and communicate the goodness of Jesus with compassion and generosity. We will make disciples, develop leaders, plant churches, and contribute to the blessing of the whole Body of Christ.
We employ a growing staff team and are further supported by an incredible volunteer ministry leaders and their respective teams.
