Continuing to Bring Life Together
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Church Life – Staying Connected
V61’s original vision of Together Bringing life to London and Beyond is as true now as ever. Our mission remains but our methods during this time need to adapt. We are a church that gathers together (now virtually) and a church that is scattered together (beyond the building walls) and we’re all extenders of the Kingdom to those who need it most.
Keep reading to find out how you can join us for virtual church services and life groups, how we can continue to bring life to our city through compassion and outreach, how you can pray with us, and what to do if you need help.
There will be no in-person services happening this weekend. Instead, we will be hosting a simple service via live stream, which we would absolutely love for you to join in with. You can watch our service live online at 11am on our Facebook Page. The video will be available afterwards as well. Leave us a comment and let us know that you’re watching!
Life groups are still happening! The use of technology (Zoom, Facetime, Google Hangouts. etc.) means that groups can gather together virtually. We are aware that with social isolation increasing, our life groups, courses, and prayer groups are an important time of connection. Please liaise with your life group leader or contact us at email@example.com if you would like to find out more about how you can connect and find community during this time.
Thursday 12pm Prayer Meeting
We are the Church and we continue to pray for the virus to cease, for wisdom for the government, for protection for all medical teams, and for faith to rise in the midst of fear. With many people now self-isolating or working from home, we are hosting a virtual prayer gathering every Thursday at noon via Zoom. Keep an eye on our social media if you want to join!
We have always placed a high value on generosity as a church and we have an amazing opportunity now to give generously to those who need it most. There are so many groups which are financially affected and we want to rise up as a church to meet that need. If you need help, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to donate to our emergency compassion fund (which will be used to help those most in need at this time) please go to vineyard61.org/give and tick ‘Emergency Compassion Fund’. Thank you so much.
While many of our regular compassion ministries have had to pause, there are loads of other ways that you can offer compassion, kindness, neighbourliness, and love during this time. With small actions we can make a big difference in the lives of elderly, vulnerable, and isolated individuals. Keep an eye on our social media and newsletters for ideas.
Compassion ministries which are continuing to run:
* Healing On The Streets (Saturdays)
* Youth Football (Tuesdays)
If you would like to see a list of organisations in need of volunteers, please email email@example.com.
Staying In Touch With You
We are aware that things change very rapidly and for the need to keep you updated. Over the next few weeks, you will receive the following communications from us:
* Newsletter e-updates on Mondays and Thursdays.
* The Facebook V61 Community Group will be for prayer requests and testimonies from our community.
* Our Facebook Church Page will be where we livestream our Sunday services.
* Text messages from us will be reserved for very important updates.
* Our Instagram page will be a place for encouragement, prayer, and sharing testimonies of what God is continuing to do with us and through us.
If You Need Help
If you find yourself with physical symptoms, economic needs, or isolation and loneliness, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All of this is subject to change! We’re taking each day as it comes and asking Jesus to ‘give us today our daily bread’. We’re seeking to partner with Him to extend His Kingdom every day and in every way.
Do continue to read, meditate and declare the Psalms at this time. Here are a few verses from Psalm 46 to keep you going:
v1 ‘God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear.’
v10 ‘Be Still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’
All our love
Steve & Viv
